Modelling - Body, Space, City- The War Memorial

As you enter Hyde Park the trees cut off the sound and sight of the busy stress and tall buildings of the city. The long straight manmade walkways are a big contrast to the large boulevard trees the wave with the breeze. All the paths lead to the War Memorial with its reflective pool. The rippling waves of the glassy shallow water create a mirrored image with a ghostly feel.

The monument to the fallen is so still and mighty which is a contrast to the swarm of people who rush around it all day, seeming to take no notice of it.

As the afternoon comes the tall building with its light coloured stone walls catches the sun and it glows like the moon. In the absence of city traffic noises the trees and people fill the space with their own sounds.

When you are wondering through the park it is hard to just stop and experience the surrounds without holding up the flow of men and women in suits, unless you seek sanctuary on one of the few cold, wooden park benches.

After dark the monument truly takes over its surroundings and the few people who are still sheepishly wondering through the park are the ones who seem out of place.
